CoVantage Credit Union Branch Exterior
Founded in Antigo, Wisconsin

NOT FOR PROFIT.
NOT FOR CHARITY.
BUT FOR SERVICE.

Since our early days as a small teachers' credit union, CoVantage Credit Union has operated on a simple premise: financial power belongs in the hands of the people who use it.

The Model

How We Differ From Traditional Banks

The fundamental difference between CoVantage and a commercial bank is ownership. We do not answer to Wall Street or private investors. We answer to you.

Patronage Dividends

Unlike stock-held banks that prioritize quarterly earnings for external investors, we operate as a non-profit where surplus earnings are returned to members as Patronage Dividends or better rates.

Big Banks

  • Driven by shareholder profit margins.
  • Board members are paid corporate executives.
  • Profits leave the community as dividends.

CoVantage CU

  • Every member is a partial owner with an equal vote.
  • Volunteer Board members from the community.
  • Surplus returned to members directly.
Localized Stability

Our roots in Antigo, Wisconsin, and expansion into Michigan locations like Crystal Falls demonstrate a long-term commitment to rural markets that larger banks often overlook.

NCUA Insured

We are federally insured by the NCUA up to at least $250,000, offering the same safety level as any traditional FDIC-insured bank.

People Helping People

Practical financial counseling and flexible terms for members facing life transitions.

Capital Strength

High capital-to-asset ratio ensuring long-term reliability.

A CENTURY OF COMMUNITY PRESENCE.

Membership eligibility is defined by geographic boundaries—living or working in specific counties—keeping the focus of our capital strictly on local economic growth in Wisconsin and Michigan.

From a Teacher's Desk to Multi-State Service

What began as a modest financial collective for educators in Antigo has grown into one of the region's most stable non-profit financial cooperatives. Our expansion into towns like Elcho, Stevens Point, and Crystal Falls wasn't driven by aggressive marketing, but by our members sharing the benefits of co vantage with their neighbors.

Financial education remains a pillar of our operation. We provide free resources to help younger members build credit history responsibly without predatory fees. We believe that a member who understands their finances is a member who can better serve their family and community.

We maintain physical branches in these communities because face-to-face financial guidance remains a core service. Technology, such as our mycovantage login portal, complements but never replaces the personal connection of a local branch manager who knows your name.
